White withdraws from Pizza Pizza 200

The RZ Racing Team has announced Jason White and the A&W Monte Carlo will not compete this weekend in Barrie, Ont. for the Pizza Pizza 200. White's wife Melissa is experiencing complications with her pregnancy; she has been hospitalized for precautionary reasons and could go into labour at any time. This was not a decision that had to be made-it was an obvious reality for White to stay with his wife in her time of need.

"Obviously my wife Melissa has been very supportive of my racing ventures, and I now have to stay by her side throughout these uncertain and difficult times."

This situation puts a spin on the chase for the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series "Rookie of the Year" battle, which the team has been competing for all season long. After the "Coke Zero 200" last weekend, it seemed White had all but collected the trophy. Now the team will have their work cut out for them when they visit Nova Scotia in two weeks for the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 300.

"We've been very excited to know we just had to start the last three races to win the battle, but while this situation makes it more challenging for us, we've always been up for challenges," explained White. "Whatever the outcome may be, I know as a team we've given it our best, and that's what's most important."

A very special thanks goes out to the team's newfound corporate partner A&W. A&W promotes family life and has been very understanding in this situation. "It means a lot to me to have the support of such a great organization in A&W," remarked White. "I'll definitely be giving it my all when I get back behind the wheel, doing what I can to carry the flag for "the burger family."

Who knows . . . maybe the next great Canadian racer is about to be born!
