April 2008 — VOLUME 6 ISSUE 4 Rail jam a blast After a sun and fun-filled day in the Sundance Terrain Park on Mar. 29, the Coors Light Quest for the Holy Rail named its winners. During the Quest for the Holy Rail, a rail jam that welcomed 50 riders to the slopes of Sun Peaks, teams of participants were given clues that led them around the resort to collect the best poker hand, eventually leading them to the "holy rail" in the Sundance Terrain Park. At least one rider from each team had to show off their best style on the rail while being filmed, then the riders met up at Bottoms Bar and Grill to judge each others films for big prizes. The lucky winners of the grand prize trip to the National Coors Light Peak Party in Banff, Alta. were "Team Hammer", (Chris Larson and John Dormer). And, Mitch Yrjola took home an Endeavor snowboard for Best Trick. The fastest team was aptly named "Team Murder Face" (Andrew Paul and Travis McMillan). And, the best bails of the day were done by Joel "Poochy" Curry and John Hinch, who also won an award for Worst Style. The Best Costume went to local skier Dylan Stevens, who dressed up for the occasion in a stark-white suit ensemble. Ryan Keller, event organizer and representative for Coors Light in the British Columbia Interior, says the action packed quest was a good time all around. "I thought the rail jam part was really fun, but the best part of the day would have to be the video-showing and after parties at both Bottoms and Club Mackdaddy's," he says, including the event also raised $750 for the local Bluebird Day Fund. With the assistance of Oronge Board Shop, Bottoms, Club Mackdaddy's, Sun Peaks Resort and the locals, the Quest for the Holy Rail was a huge hit and a great party, and if up to Keller, will be returning again next year. "I would love to bring this event back to Sun Peaks next year," says Keller. "I think everyone involved had a great time." Site designed and maintained by: PeaksMedia.com | |
