Sun Peaks looked good

The competition was stiff on Mar. 15 during the 2008 You Look Good Rider's Cup.

Over 100 snowboarders from all over Canada came to conquer the terrain park, vying for $5,000 in prize money and a Yamaha Phazer snowmobile.

In the end, Kevin Konings from Collingwood, Ont. took home the snowmobile. And Sun Peaks rider Marlie Marchewka showed she had what it took to look good with a third place finish in the women's Coor's Light Pro event with Stefanie Bobinski of Kamloops taking fifth.

Sun Peaks own locally-loved snowboarder Angie Seeley came first in the Women's Salomon Amateur category, and Matt Berger of Kamloops took first place in the Men's Renegade division.

Natalie Lodge, event co-ordinator, says the event was a success and it was the women riders that surprised her the most.

"The girls really killed it," she says. "Their level of riding was really great, they really stepped it up."
