First step toward incorporation At the annual general meeting of the Sun Peaks Resort Improvement District held this past April, a steering committee was created to explore the potential for Sun Peaks to move toward municipal status.
On July 19, the committee held its second meeting to initiate the incorporation study process. The committee, with the assistance of the Ministry of Community Services and consultants CitySpaces Consulting Ltd., will manage a study process to determine the administrative, social, economic, and other implications of Sun Peaks becoming a resort municipality.
The first results of the incorporation study are expected in the spring of 2007. Public input will be sought through a variety of means, including open houses and meetings. A website and newsletters will also be used to keep the public informed about the process and the results of the study.
